Gurafiku: Japanese Graphic Design

I found this great resource when I was researching designs for a series of posters that reflected some of the 1970's Japanese art styles. The blog is an huge collection of great Japanese graphic design that spans over two centuries. It's a culmination of minimalistic designs of magazine spreads to the fantastical movie posters. It is also a great resource for illustrations as well. I admit some of the designs are very different than what Western designers would associate with. There are definitely some designs break traditional conventions so if you're looking for innovative layout directions, this place is full of imagery. They include famous designers like Shigeo Fukuda and also some other innovative designers you might not know! The owner, Ryan Hageman, does update on occasions so definitely check out the website periodically.
